ADB updated its economic forecasts for Georgia

On 15 September, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) updated its economic forecast for its member states. In ADB’s flagship annual publication, Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2020 Update, the bank forecasted a 5% contract in 2020 followed by a 4.5% growth in 2021 for Georgia.

The forecast stated that Georgia will experience a substantial slowdown in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lower oil prices. A recovery is expected in 2021 as a result of higher domestic demand, increased foreign direct investment, and a rebound in workers’ remittances.

“Caucasus Watch” is seeking local specialists from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the North Caucasus region, to assist our research endeavours and help enrich our content.
