At a meeting on ensuring law and order in Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, the head of Dagestan Federal Republic, stated that the situation in the field of migration in Dagestan is characterized by significant migration flows, on the one hand, and relative stability, on the other. 

"I want to note that, in general, there are no facts of destructive activities of an extremist and terrorist nature by ethnic communities of migrants and the transformation of groups of migrants into criminal groups of an extremist and terrorist orientation on the territory of the [federal] republic," Melikov emphasized.

According to Akhmed Bataliyev, the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the region, most migrants come to the federal republic in search of work. "The situation in the field of migration is assessed as stable and controlled. Migrants do not significantly impact the socio-political and criminogenic situation in the [federal] republic," Bataliyev said.

In January-June 2022, over 28 thousand foreign citizens and stateless persons entered through the checkpoints of the state border of the Russian Federation in the Dagestan section. More than 15,000 foreign citizens are registered as migrants in the republic. Russian language courses, as well as courses on the basics of Russian legislation, are organized for the migrants; mobile applications are created; and information brochures and leaflets in the native languages of migrants on civil and religious ethics are distributed to migrants.
