Bzhania and Medvedev discuss Abkhaz-Russian relations

Aslan Bzhania, the separatist President of Abkhazia, met with Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, at the Gorki-9 residence near Moscow, the Press Office of separatist Abkhazia's President reported.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Dmitry Medvedev noted that Russia continues to develop, strengthening its international position. "Russia fully fulfills its allied obligations, renders the necessary assistance to the socio-economic development of [separatist] Abkhazia, ensuring its security," he added.

The parties noted the stabilization of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Abkhazia thanks to the well-coordinated work of Russian and Abkhaz doctors. As part of the exchange of views on the international agenda, Aslan Bzhania and Dmitry Medvedev paid particular attention to Russia's war in Ukraine.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation expressed gratitude for the prompt decision of Sokhumi to recognize the independence of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and the establishment of diplomatic relations with them.

Medvedev also noted the prospects that are opening as part of the implementation of the Program for the formation of a common social and economic space between the Russian Federation and the [separatist] the Republic of Abkhazia based on the harmonization of the Abkhazian legislation with the Russian one. In his opinion, this will give a serious impetus to the socio-economic development of Abkhazia, revealing its investment potential for Russian business.
