Chechen security agents killed Muslim Bisultanov, a prominent regime opponent, and abducted his wife. Three Chechen police officials were dispatched on the 24th of May to kidnap Bisultanov from his house in the hamlet of Znamenskoye. He was allegedly shot dead while attempting to defend his wife from security forces harassment, following which she was supposedly kidnapped and kept at the Nadterechny Police Department. 

Senior Lieutenant Rasul Kusiev, Lieutenant Adam Mudayev, and Major Khasan Musaev were among the security troops charged with seizing Bisultanov, according to Chechen Telegram group, ASTRA. According to reports, Musaev was the cop who shot and murdered the activist.

“Because he did not disguise his opposing views against the state, he was kidnapped many times. And they planned to abduct him again this time,” 1ADAT informed. They claim that when Bisultanov's close friend, Ilyas Elmaurzaev, heard gunshots, he called Bisultanov. On the same day, Ilyas and his brother Islam were placed on the federal wanted list. Ilyas is said to have escaped Chechnya, while his brother freely surrendered to security forces.

Islam Elmaurzaev was also held and tortured in the Nadterechny District Department of Internal Affairs, according to 1ADAT. His older brother was discovered the next day in Krasnodar Krai, where Chechen security agents seized him. Muhammad, Bisultanov's cousin, was also placed on the federal wanted list. He was already near the border, seeking to flee Chechnya, when he was discovered and fired at, according to local accounts. He is now being treated for a gunshot wound in a hospital.
