The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, was awarded the rank of lieutenant general by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Magomed Daudov, chairman of the republic's parliament, said this on his VKontakte page, specifying that Kadyrov's contribution "to the victory over international terrorism in the Chechen Republic and the preservation of Russia's integrity cannot be overestimated." The information message was also published on the website of the Chechnya Today news agency. The corresponding decree has not been published on the President's website at the time of this writing.

The Minister of Information and Press of Chechnya, Akhmed Dudayev, said that on March 28, Kadyrov arrived in Mariupol to support the morale of the fighters. According to Dudayev, on the spot Kadyrov held a meeting and conference with the commander of the 8th Army and with the commanders of special forces from the Chechen Republic.

Earlier it was reported about another trip of Kadyrov to Ukraine - allegedly on March 13 he visited the city of Hostomel. However, according to Ukrainian sources citing the geolocation data of the phone used by Kadyrov, these claims are not true. The Kremlin also did not confirm this trip, and the Chechen oppositionists called the video allegedly made in Ukraine a fake.
