Anti-war protests in North Caucasus

In Krasnodar, anti-war protesters were detained

Police detain participants in a protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which is held near the administration building of the Krasnodar Territory.

According to Free Media, blogger and activist Vitaly Votanovsky, who was wearing a jacket with the inscription "No to war," was detained. The 93.ru publication publishes numerous videos of arrests and reports that street lighting was turned off near the administration building.

According to Yuga.ru, 93.ru journalist Anastasia Shcheglova has been detained. The publication also reports that more than a hundred people are participating in the protest.

The arrest of an Astrakhan woman who protested the war

Law enforcement authorities detained Astrakhan activist Elena Baibekova. The reason for the arrest could be her protest against Russia's military aggression on the territory of Ukraine.

"As far as I know, a towel in the colours of the Ukrainian flag hung on her balcony. She also actively participated in the pickets, after the first picket against the war, the police already came to Elena, but she did not open the door for them," an Astrakhan activist and political scientist told Mikhail Doliev. He stated that Baibekova, most likely, does not have a lawyer.

Information about the detention of Elena Baibekova was confirmed by another Astrakhan activist, who, due to fears of interest from the security forces, asked not to be named.

After one-man pickets against the war, the police summoned Astrakhan activist Konstantin Goloviznin for questioning and tried to interrogate Elena Baibekova, who demanded an official subpoena.

Anti-war picket in Elista

Law enforcement officers went to the parents and the workplace of a programmer from Elista, Nikolai Mendyaev. The day before, he, along with other citizens, went on a picket against Russia's military aggression on the territory of Ukraine.

As Mendyaev told, he stood with a handwritten poster "No to war" on the evening of February 24th. In parallel, on the central square of Elista, there were about seven more citizens who protested the war, and on the other side of the square, a local resident read anti-war poems.

“Several police officers and FSB officers approached me and invited me to the department to give explanations. There, one of the officers prevented me from leaving, although I was not detained. After that, my friends began to film what was happening, then the policemen let me go,” says a resident of Elista.

A solo picket against the war in Ukraine was held in Volgograd

Activist Elena Sheina held a solo picket in Volgograd against the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine.

Sheina went to the picket with posters "Putin! Leave Ukraine alone!," "Russia without Putin," and "From the irremovability of power became insane." She told the publication that in the morning on the Alley of Heroes, a single picket was held by a fashion designer.

The authorities checked the activist’s documents, but the picket was not hindered.

Three activists detained for anti-war picket in Rostov-on-Don

During an anti-war picket in the centre of Rostov-on-Don, activists Boris Papayan and Elena Belan, who opposed the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, were detained.

"Only Papayan stood at the picket, Belan was nearby. They were detained… when the man was folding his poster. Now they have been taken to the police department in the Kirovsky district, but no documents have been drawn up - that is, they are being held without registration," their representative said.

She clarified that both activists are elderly. Now the OVD-Info lawyer has come to their aid. Later, OVD-Info told that Papayan and Belan were charged with violating Articles 19.3 (Disobedience to a lawful order of the police) and 20.2 Part 5 (Violation of the order of picketing) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
