In Dagestan, the seat in the parliament of the federal republic officially passed from father to son. The deputy of the People's Assembly of Dagestan of the seventh convocation, Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, terminated his powers ahead of schedule, and the mandate was transferred to his son, Magomed Magomedov.

This decision was made by the electoral commission of the federal republic. In turn, Magomed-Sultan Magomedov was appointed State Secretary of Dagestan.

At a press conference the day before this decision of the election commission, the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov, said that there was no clannishness in Dagestan and called the reports about it a "journalistic invention."

“Listen, let's finish this clan story in Dagestan,” Melikov said.

Former Deputy of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, Rajab Abdulatipov, was sentenced to 12 years in a strict prison colony and a fine of eight million rubles for bribes and fraud. The convicted deputy is the younger brother of the former head of the republic, Ramazan Abdulatipov. In parliament, he headed the Committee on Education, Science, and Culture.

The investigation linked the activities of Rajab Abdulatipov to the establishment of illegal disabilities for citizens and the taking of bribes. In the same case, the head of the Republican Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, Magomed Makhachev, was arrested along with his subordinates.
