Ingushetia became second-fastest growing crime region in Russia

The Prosecutor General's Office has released official crime figures for the period from January to September 2021. The increase in the total number of all registered crimes in Ingushetia in comparison with the same period last year amounted to 16.3%. This is the second highest - after the Tula region - indicator among all regions of the country.

On the fourth place in the ranking was Chechnya with an increase of 11%, the sixth and seventh were taken by Dagestan and the Krasnodar Territory, where it was 8%.

The best indicator among all regions of the South of Russia and the North Caucasus is in Karachay-Cherkessia, where the number of crimes decreased by 6.8%.

In addition, the Krasnodar Territory has become the second in the absolute number of registered crimes - it amounted to 59,064, - "second only" to Moscow. However, this indicator does not consider the differences in the population of the regions.

According to the results of nine months of 2021, the Krasnodar Territory has risen to second place in the country in terms of the number of registered crimes under the article "Taking a bribe," Ingushetia and Karachay-Cherkessia were at the very end of the rating.

Population growth recorded in southern Russia during the census

Rosstat, in the course of a preliminary study of population census data, recorded an increase in the number of residents of the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories.

"Now we are identifying subjects in which significantly more people have signed up than Rosstat took into account in the course of interim estimates of the population size," reported with reference to the deputy head of Rosstat Pavel Smelov.

The first preliminary census results are expected to be released by the end of January 2022.

The All-Russian Population Census was held from October 15 to November 14. This is the third census in Russia in the 21st century - before that they were conducted in 2002 and 2010. Preliminary results will be announced in April, and full results - at the end of 2022.
