Spannungen zwischen Aserbaidschan und Armenien haben zugenommen

Cost of living rises in Azerbaijan
Prices for food, drinks, and cigarettes in Azerbaijan increased by 2.6% in September compared to the previous month. Prices were 10.4% higher than in September of the prior year. Official figures reveal that Azerbaijanis spend half of their income on food.
Tensions have risen between Azerbaijan and Armenia
Armenia said it has not allowed the Azerbaijani army to advance. However, it lost two military posts and 12 Armenian soldiers have been captured by Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Yerevan appealed to Moscow to protect the country's sovereignty.

Turkish Parliament extends troop mandate for Azerbaijan
Turkish peacekeepers arrived in Azerbaijan in January 2020 and have been stationed at the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Centre in Aghdam district of Azerbaijan. The centre launched on January 30, following a memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and Russia on November 11, 2020.
Azerbaijan accused Armenia of military provocation
About 60 Armenian soldiers tried to cut the lines of communication between the posts of the Azerbaijani army in the border area, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry said.

“Caucasus Watch” is an independent platform, which provides coverage of recent developments in various locations of the Caucasus region for the German and overall European stakeholders. We are an international team of Caucasus enthusiasts and are currently looking for local contributors who focus on social, economic, political and security dynamics of the said region.
