The Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, said on Thursday at a briefing in the Parliament that Armenia is using all available resources to return the Lachin Corridor to its ordinary course as stipulated by the statement of November 9.
“Armenia calls on the international community - whether it’s the UN, the OSCE, the OSCE Minsk Group - to send a mission to the Lachin Corridor to resolve this situation. The fact that 120 thousand Armenians are currently under siege in Nagorno-Karabakh [Artsakh] is very perilous. We are facing a humanitarian crisis,” he added.
Referring to the Armenian proposals related to the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, Grigoryan highlighted: “In the text of the peace treaty, we proposed the so-called institute of guarantors, represented either by international organizations or states that will ensure the implementation of that deal. We also suggested creating a mechanism for possible recourse to the International Court of Justice if a crisis arises and cannot be resolved.”
According to Grigoryan, Armenia continues to make efforts to establish peace in the region, and it depends on Azerbaijani authorities whether a peace agreement will be signed before the end of the year.
"The crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh again shows Azerbaijan's destructive role in the region. At a moment when peace negotiations are underway, Azerbaijan closes the Lachin corridor in the person of so-called environmentalists,” he said.
