On December 2, the draft statement of the opposition "Armenia" faction of the Armenian Parliament, which proposed to respond to the statement of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, was not accepted. Notably, the "Civil Contract" did not vote on the draft statement.

Eduard Aghajanyan, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said that the discussion that many provisions in the proposed draft are consistent with their ideas, but there are also disagreements on some points. "The terminology proposed by the Armenia faction causes more risks than it contributes to the advancement of the peace agenda, and we, as the responsible authority of Armenia, cannot accept a statement that contains such risks," he emphasized.

Andranik Tevanyan, presenting the draft of the statement, noted that the disagreement refers to the wording of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh or the Republic of Artsakh. "They deleted [during the working discussions of the project] the wording," Tevanyan stated.

According to the opposition MP, the second contradiction was about Nagorno-Karabakh's right to self-determination. "They are not in favor of it. Armenia's commitment to the realization of the right to self-determination and ensuring security was taken. The approach according to which Karabakh should be separated from the interests of Armenia and peace should be achieved at the price of surrendering Karabakh is unacceptable to us. It will not lead to peace; it will lead to war, and this time it will lead to the capitulation of Armenia," Andranik Tevanyan noted.
