Iran to Exchange Electricity With Azerbaijan and Russia

On November 22, at the opening ceremony of the 22nd International Exhibition of the Electrical Industry of Iran, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the Minister of Energy of the Iran Islamic Republic, said that Iran would exchange electricity with Azerbaijan and Russia.

According to him, when Iran needs electricity, it imports it from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. "When we have surplus electricity, it is exported to other countries. Naturally, we will continue to fulfill previous contracts for electricity," the Minister of Energy of the Iran Islamic Republic noted.

Regarding energy consumption in Iran, the Minister assured those present that the country's energy industry is in good condition. "About 95% of parts and equipment in this industry are of domestic production," he stressed.

Iran's energy systems have now been synchronized with those of Russia. According to Mehrabian, Russia and Azerbaijan are also taking technical steps to align with Iran's energy system.
