Gazprom to Supply Up To 1 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas to Azerbaijan

According to the new contract on November 18, the Russian company Gazprom will supply up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas to Azerbaijan by March 2023.

According to the information, on November 15, the supply of Russian gas to Azerbaijan began within the framework of the new gas purchase agreement. "On November 15, within the framework of the new gas purchase agreement, the supply of Russian gas to Azerbaijan began. The document was signed between "Gazprom Eksport" LLC and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR)," the information stated.

Gazprom emphasized that the contract envisages the supply of up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas until March 2023.

Earlier, on November 3, Caucasus Watch reported that Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov warned that fulfilling the obligation to double gas exports to the European Union will depend on the fact that the bloc will invest new investments in its pipeline network and close the long-term agreements of European companies. Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov said these agreements should include the period after 2027. He added: "We must be sure that this [the energy agreements with EU] is not a spontaneous demand for the Ukrainian war. This war will end one day, and then you will return to gas from Russia again, and you will say well, we do not need you anymore."
