Georgian Intelligence Service Prevents Assassination Attempt

On November 15, an attempt to kill an Israeli citizen planned by a criminal group in Georgia was detected and prevented by the Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service of Georgia.

According to the information from the State Security Service of Georgia, persons with dual citizenship of Pakistan and Iran-Georgia were arrested as a result of the operation and search measures.

"Organizers living abroad, including an Iranian citizen who is believed to be the orderer of the murder, and other persons involved in the incident have been identified, and complex search and operation measures are being continued against them. The investigation established that a Pakistani citizen who participated in this group was sent to Georgia by a criminal group that had received an order to kill an Israeli citizen in Georgia. Before coming to Georgia, the Pakistani citizen was given the necessary instructions and informed about the object of the murder. Later, the mentioned person came to Georgia through a third country. They met in the apartment where he was staying, and he was given the means of communication related to the plot," the report stated.

It is reported that after arriving in Georgia, the citizen of Pakistan strictly followed the rules of the plot, secretly investigated the object of the murder and its movement routes, and was in constant conspiratorial contact with the client abroad and received instructions and funds from him.

"In addition, it was determined that the criminal group involved people with dual Iranian and Georgian citizenship living in Georgia who secretly delivered weapons to the perpetrator. To cover up the tracks, there was no direct meeting between the persons with dual; the transfer of firearms and ammunition was carried out using caches in the city area, and both groups worked in coordination from abroad. As a result of investigative and operational measures and searches conducted against persons with dual citizenship of Pakistan and Iran-Georgia, firearms and ammunition, conspiracy phones containing information indicating the preparation of the murder and their hiding places, and other evidence were discovered," the State Security Service noted.

"At the same time, the Iranian side, which is accused of ordering the murder, and the Israeli citizen, who is alleged to be the object of the plot, have not yet commented on this information," the news emphasized.
