Secretaries of Security Councils of Azerbaijan and Russia Discuss Cooperation

On November 3, a meeting was held between the secretaries of the Security Councils of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ramil Usubov and Nikolai Patrushev.

According to the information provided by the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the meeting was held within the framework of the annual meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

Nikolai Patrushev and Ramil Usubov discussed security issues in the region, including prospects of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in the information security field and combating terrorism. "In addition, during the meeting, the cooperation plan for 2023–2024 was signed between the security councils of both countries, and it was emphasized that the implementation of this plan will strengthen the alliance relations between Russia and Azerbaijan," the information said.

As for the heads of the CIS Security Councils meeting, topical issues of regional security in the CIS space were discussed. "Challenges and threats to international security in modern conditions, including nuclear and radiation security, were reviewed in general." Special attention was paid to the fight against threats to the security of the CIS member states due to the activities of international terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. Issues related to destructive activities carried out by foreign non-governmental organizations and mass media on the territory of the CIS countries were touched upon. "In addition, measures to fight against the glorification of fascism and falsification of history in the CIS space were discussed," said the information.
