Military Officials of Azerbaijan and Georgia Discuss Regional Security Issues

On September 28, Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, who was on an official visit to Georgia, met with Giorgi Matiashvili, the Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces, and discussed the issues of ensuring peace and security in the region, the current state of military cooperation between the two countries, and development prospects. 

According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the parties also exchanged views on ensuring the security of regional economic projects, and further expansion of cooperation in military-technical, military education, military medicine, and other fields. 

The report said, "Participation and continuation of the training of military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army in the courses organized at the Sachkheri Mountain Preparatory School were positively assessed." 

At the meeting, the importance of conducting exercises in bilateral and Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral formats and within NATO was emphasized. 

The parties are also preparing for the joint training of special-purpose units "Caucasian Eagle-2022" to be held in October this year with the participation of the military of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia, as well as the "Eternity-2023" computer-supported command-staff training and the "Caucasian Eagle", planned to be held next year.
