On October 1, the Georgian Foreign Ministry condemned the unlawful annexation of these regions, which is a blatant attempt to modify the internationally recognized boundaries of Ukraine forcibly.
The Ministry stated that the fundamental norms of international law, defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all nations, have once again been gravely violated via this yet another unlawful action of the Russian Federation.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry stated that it would never accept the purportedly illegitimate referendums staged in Ukrainian territories. The Ministry reiterated its steadfast and unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized boundaries.
Earlier, Caucasus Watch reported that Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgia, spoke about the referendums that Russia started on September 23 to acquire four areas of Ukraine that are now under occupation and stressed the need to condemn the referendums categorically. The President emphasized, "Because we know what referendums mean when they are held in occupied territory, in situations of war, what they signify, and what they may be." President Zourabichvili emphasized that this is incredibly cynical conduct by Russia, which is unacceptable for us, the world, and civilized people.
