On August 24, an official welcome ceremony was held for Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, welcomed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani President reported.

Ilham Aliyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a one-on-one meeting after the official welcome ceremony. Welcoming President of Kazakhstan, Ilham Aliyev said, "I am very glad to see you. I am sure your visit will be very successful, and friendly and brotherly relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will rise to a new high level. We attach great importance to your visit. I am sure that the trip will yield very good results."

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said: "As the President of Kazakhstan, I am glad to pay an official visit to your country for the first time. Of course, today's visit is of special importance to me. A number of documents will be signed based on the results of today's negotiations. I am sure those documents will bring the bilateral cooperation and Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan relations to a new level."

The President of Kazakhstan has presented the highest order of Kazakhstan, "Altyn Kyran" – "Golden Eagle," to Ilham Aliyev.

Moreover, the countries' officials signed multiple documents during the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Business Council held in Baku:

• Memorandum of cooperation between the Mingachevir city of Azerbaijan and the city of Urals, Kazakhstan;
• Memorandum on the establishment of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Business Council;
• Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of Azerbaijan – AZPROMO and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan;
• Agreement on cooperation between the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations (ASK) of Azerbaijan and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan;
• Memorandum of Understanding between the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan’s QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center;
• Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between QazTrade, Tayga Trade, and Maslo-Del LLC;
• Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between QazTrade, Cool Infinity, and Foodcity Alliance;
• Partnership Agreement between ADY Container LLC of Azerbaijan and KTZ Express Hong Kong Limited LLC.
