Ilham Aliyev Meets Northern Cyprus President, Turkish President, and Palestine Prime Minister in Turkey

On August 9, Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, arrived in Turkey for a working visit at the invitation of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish President, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani President reported.

Meeting with Northern Cyprus President

On the same day, Ilham Aliyev received Ersin Tatar, the [de-facto] President of the [self-declared] Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in Konya.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of holding the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, which strengthens relations between peoples in the Turkic world. They noted that this prestigious international sports event was excellently organized in Baku. During the conversation, the sides touched upon the importance of expanding relations, based on the historical bonds between the peoples of the Turkic world, in the humanitarian, cultural, educational, and sports fields.

Meeting with Turkish President

The Ilham Aliyev and the President of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also met in Konya.

At the same time, the Azerbaijani President conveyed his congratulations on the organization of the Islamic Solidarity Games at a high level.

During the conversation, the relations of friendship, brotherhood, and alliance between the countries are developing successfully in all fields was emphasized with satisfaction. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again expressed Turkey's support for the recent events in Karabakh and offered condolences to the martyrs. Aliyev thanked for the support and condolences.

At the meeting, opinions on the post-conflict period in the region were exchanged, and issues of cooperation in the economic, energy, transport, and military fields were discussed.

Meeting with Prime Minister of Palestine

The President of Azerbaijan also received Mohammad Shtayyeh, Prime Minister of Palestine.

Mohammed Shtayyeh expressed gratitude to Aliyev for the solidarity, support, and humanitarian aid shown by Azerbaijan to Palestine. Saying that bilateral relations are developing successfully in various fields, the Prime Minister emphasized mutual support within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement. The Prime Minister of Palestine congratulated Azerbaijan on its achievements in all fields. Mohammed Shtayyeh raised the issue of opening Azerbaijan's Embassy in Palestine.

President Ilham Aliyev noted the solidarity of the people of Azerbaijan with the people of Palestine. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction the visit of Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the State of Palestine, to Azerbaijan and his contacts with him. He also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in political, economic, educational, cultural, and sports fields. President Ilham Aliyev touched on the study of Palestinian students in Azerbaijan and emphasized the grants allocated to them by the state. Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is ready to increase these grants.
