The authorities are not going to sink to the level of the opposition when the latter, making some demands, goes beyond all the boundaries of morality. This was stated at a briefing by the head of the Prime Minister's Office, Arayik Harutyunyan, to comment on the opposition's demand for the heads of state institutions to express their position on the Nagorno-Karabakh publicly.

"Remember how this opposition behaved when they invaded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building and how they behaved with people negotiating on the Nagorno-Karabakh. This is a weak opposition, and its influence is weak. Nevertheless, with such actions, it creates certain problems for the activities of these people in the foreign policy field," Harutyunyan said. “The authorities, according to him, make important statements when they consider it necessary. There is a negotiation process. There is a certain strategy, certain tactics, and the opposition cannot force the government to deviate from these programs,” the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff said.

According to him, in 1998-2008, Robert Kocharyan, posing in front of the cameras, could declare that Karabakh would never be part of Azerbaijan, but at the same time discuss the issue of exchanging Nagorno-Karabakh for Meghri, the sovereign territory of Armenia. “So, is it better to say little and achieve more, or to talk a lot and at the same time be ready for treacherous steps?” asked Arayik Harutyunyan.

“Exactly a year ago, most people supported this government in the elections, and everyone is obliged to respect this choice,” Harutyunyan concluded.
