Azerbaijan is in the top three countries exporting Turkish-made military equipment

In recent years, the rapid development of Turkey's defence industry, the country's use of national weapons in the fight against terrorism and domestic security operations has increased interest in military equipment produced in the country. Thus, in the first 11 months of this year, Turkey's defence and aerospace industry set a new export record with revenues of 2 billion 793 million 974 thousand US dollars according to the Turkish Export Assembly (TEC).

Revenues from the sale of national products of the country's defence industry sector in 2018 amounted to 2 billion 35 million 956 thousand dollars, and in 2019 increased by 34.6% to 2 billion 740 million 988 thousand dollars. At that time, this figure was recorded as an export record of the country's defence and aerospace industry.

Although the sector's export revenue decreased by 16.8% in 2020 to $ 2 billion 279 million 27 thousand due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this figure broke a record in the first 11 months of this year and amounted to $ 2 billion 793 million 974 thousand.

According to the TIM, the top 20 countries to which Turkey exported national military equipment in January-November are the United States, Azerbaijan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Morocco, France, Tunisia, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, India, Turkmenistan, China, Uzbekistan, Rwanda, the Netherlands, Jordan, and Canada.

During this period, as in previous years, the United States ranked first with 1 billion 32 million 615 thousand dollars. Azerbaijan is in second place. According to the report, during the first 11 months of this year, exports from Turkey to Azerbaijan amounted to 192 million 126 thousand dollars. In third place is Qatar with exports of 180 million 544 thousand dollars.
