On an official visit to Qatar, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili met with Dr Ahmad Hassen Al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and discussed “bilateral cooperation in numerous domains and mutual assistance."
The parties agreed to strengthen commercial and economic connections between Georgia and Qatar during the meeting. They also discussed the situation in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), two Russian-occupied Georgian provinces, as well as regional problems such as the situation in Afghanistan.
During his visit, Georgia's Deputy Foreign Minister also met with Sultan Bin Rashid Al Khater, the Undersecretary of Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to address economic problems.
Khvtisiashvili paid visits to local businesses in Qatar, including Milaha, a nautical and logistics firm, as well as the Lulu Group International and Family Food Centre hypermarkets.
Over 50 Georgian products are currently available in 14 branches of Lulu Hypermarket since June 2021, while various Georgian products will be on display in Family Food Centre starting November 30.
As of now, Georgian products are available in six hypermarkets in Qatar: Lulu, Monoprix, Spar, Ansar Gallery, Approved Market, and Family Food Centre.
