Social security programs, like old-age pensions and family benefits, will account for 26.5% (1.47 billion euros) of Armenia's budget in 2022. If approved by the National Assembly, the draft budget for 2022 will raise social protection spending by 15.1%.

When developing the state budget law for 2022, the government projected this outcome. On September 30, 2021, the government received the draft budget. It was authorised by the executive branch and referred to the National Assembly for review.

General Public Services will account for 19.7% of spending or 778 million euros. The funds will be distributed to government ministries, regional governments, and other state bodies.

The defence will receive 15.8% of the budget (625 million euros). Most of the money, 612 million euros, is set aside for military defence. The remaining funds will be used for defence research and development.

From 2021 to 2022, defence spending will climb by 11.1%.

Economic relations will receive 9.8% of the budget, while education will receive 8.8%.

Education spending will increase by 25.4% by 2021.

The health sector will receive 5.6% of the budget in 2022, up 4.4% from last year.

From 2021 onwards, funds allocated to environmental protection will decrease by 9.2%.
