Gazprom announces major investment in Armenia

On 10 May, Armenia's national Russian-owned natural gas distribution company Gazprom Armenia said it will invest about 109 billion drams in the overhaul of the network in 2021–2025, reported arka.am.

The overhaul plan is part of a major program designed to extend the gas network across the country, the company said in a statement posted on its official website. This year, the company will invest 17.3 billion drams in the expansion, reconstruction, and overhaul of the Abovyan underground gas storage facility, in other gas transmission facilities, in the gas distribution system as well in connecting new households and enterprises to the network.

The company will also “replace pipelines and insulation on the main gas pipelines stretching from Krasny Most to Alaverdi, from Yerevan to Armavir, from Ilichevsk to Yerevan and from Goris to the border with Nakhijevan (Goris-Shagat section). The total length of the sections to be repaired is about 70 km," according to the company. Gazprom Armenia is also overhauling the gas distribution stations No. 2 and No. 4 in Yerevan and in Gyumri. This year, the company plans also to repair gas distribution system facilities, including the repair and restoration of about 80 km of medium and low-pressure gas pipelines.
