On 17 December, the Armenian President Armen Sargsyan signed the law on ratifying the agreement on abolishing visa requirements between Armenia and China, according to the Armenian Presidential Office told Armenpress.
Armenian and Chinese citizens would be able to stay, travel or use the countries' territories for transit purposes for 90 days in 180-day period without a visa, according to the law. The agreement commits the two states to quickly deport travellers which abuse the new rules.
The agreement to enable the visa-free travel between the two countries was signed on 25 May during the visit of the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi to Armenia (Caucasus Watch reported). It was revealed that the two sides agreed on the visa-free travel regime during the Armenian Prime Minister's Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to China, when he participated at the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations on 14 May (Caucasus Watch reported).
