Pashinyan's advice for Volodymyr Selensky: You have to deal in a "honest and direct" way with Putin

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has given some advice to the newly-elected President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, on how he should build up his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the Armenian Prime Minister, the communication with Putin is only likely to succeed under one condition. "If you are direct and honest with him, without tricks, it will not be difficult. You just have to communicate directly and honestly", said the Armenian Prime Minister.

He also pointed out that such an approach would generally serve the Ukrainian president well in building any relationship. "I think anyone will appreciate it when somebody is not trying to deceive him in any way, misrepresent or distort anything", quoted RBC Nikol Pashinyan.

41-year-old comedian Volodymyr Zelensky won the run-off election for Ukraine's presidency on April 21, with more than 73% of the vote. The heads of state and government of the South Caucasus states have already congratulated him on his election victory. In addition, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili hopes that Zelensky might allow him to return to Ukraine.
